It's time to start thinking about the 2020 AFF Photography Contest!

I know it is still early spring, but I’m sure we’re all thinking about the upcoming season, the great places we plan on fishing, and the beautiful fish that we’ll bring to hand. So, as you make those lists to organize your gear, don’t forget a camera. At the very least, look into investing in a waterproof case for your cell phone. They make great Point-n-Shoots.

Watch for additional articles in the newsletter through this year. I will be offering suggestions on how you can improve the overall quality of your images you’re considering for submission. Right out of the camera is only “good enough”. Just a little effort can turn a “that’s nice” photo into a “that’s really nice” image. Understanding that most of us do not have access to high-powered software programs like Photoshop and Lightroom, these articles will be geared towards improvements you can make with your phone’s software or editing apps that are free or low cost.

Categories and guidelines are the same as last year. Deadline for submission is October 9th with submissions accepted at any time before that date. Viewing of all the photos and judging for People’s Choice will be at the November Membership Meeting.

I’ll leave you with one thought:   Somebody is going to win; the surest way to not win is to not submit anything.
